Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays! It is a “give” day and maybe not a “take” day. It is a day to sprinkle love and kindness to those that surround you. I have many memories of Valentine’s, maybe the first was in grade school, the thrill of cutting pink and red paper hearts to perfection to decorate my personal Valentine’s box. Then the fun of filling them with little cards personally addressed to each and every classmate. The excitement of sorting through the tiny white envelopes to see if I could find that special one from the guy I had a little crush was just too much for a sweet ten-year-old girl.
For the high school days, it was the adrenaline of receiving my first dozen roses from my freshman sweetheart or a high school dance with what we thought at the time were beautiful dresses, carnation corsages, and top that off with awkward dancing.
Then it was on to to formal dates as an adult and into marriage with the “hot black dress,” fine dining and maybe a weekend away. Each and every season is sweet with very special memories and moments to cherish.
But today is a day to be appreciative and thankful for those that love you big. A moment to reflect the gift of those you love. Sprinkle your special friends, family and “dear love” with kind words, sweet touches and maybe chocolate covered strawberries, sugar cookies and roses. Or maybe just a “cup of coffee” to share will do.
Love big and enjoy!
